The day after the election I wallowed. The following day I had my CSA pick up and it was nice to be with other people and laughing and talking. Friday I still felt discombobulated so after working for a bit Ernie and I curled up and watched a little tv and then I watched loud rock and roll on YouTube while Ernie baked a gingerbread cake.
Later Ann and Bob came over and we threw some chicken thighs, turnips and fennel in a roasting pan, along with some smoked paprika. We had a green salad with it and it was simple and homey and comforting. We ate on our laps in the living room and had a fire, listened to music and talked. Most of all, we just felt like ourselves. Being with Ann and Bob always makes us feel more like ourselves. The comfort of old friends is a mighty powerful thing.
They brought ice cream (two kinds because….Ann) for Ernie’s gingerbread.
My morning glories just keep working away for me. I am so proud of them.
Well, election day was tough for them as it was for so many of us.
But they rebounded, as we will.
Dinner the other night: frozen cheese pizza with lots of fresh kale and a smattering of parmesan on it.
I’m not particularly crazy about radishes but GOOD GOD PEOPLE…look how gorgeous those are!
Our Sola Gratia share.
And although we didn’t really need more vegetables, Ernie went by the farmers market today.
Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
I love your stack!
Ernie must have gone early to the market. We went later in the morning and all those Sola Gratia carrots were gone and we snagged the last bunch of beets (there were loose beets.) Also may I mention that I love that they were selling small to tiny cabbages! Like personal cabbages! How many times have I needed 2-3 cups of cabbage but end up with a cabbage the size of a linebacker?
I've got your book so I'll drop it by when I can.
