1. In some excellent and cheering news, BUSTER IS BACK! Many baby Busters are popping up in the seemingly kudzu covered patio. I know, we are very proud of him.
2. And speaking of our yard, it has become, as Heather kindly phrased it, quite LUSH. I can’t do anything and Ernie tires very easily. However, I NEED MY ZINNIAS, FOLKS! Why all the capitals today? I don’t know. Ernie and the guys are going to attack it this Sunday around 11 am if anyone feels the need to assist… Love and ice water will be provided, as well as stronger drinks when appropriate.
3. I know that all the recipes for pork steaks call for them to be slow cooked, braised, etc., but honestly I like them quickly cooked on a very hot grill as well. You need to cut some fat away as it doesn’t render the way it does with slow cooking but it is well worth the effort as you end up with wonderful flavor and that touch of char from the fire. We had it with rice and asparagus with lots of fresh dill (thanks to Heather).
4. That led to a perfect breakfast today. A mixture of the leftover asparagus as well as some leftover Swiss chard from a different night, all mixed together with a runny fried egg on top.
5. Esther continues to make herself at home.
6. Current tv watching: A new season of Trying (Apple). Yay!!! I absolutely love this show. My other tv watching excitement is a new season of The Great House Revival (Hulu)! This series follows restorations of Irish homes and I adore it. The host sometimes agrees with the homeowner’s choices, sometimes not. We sped through it. Episode one was my favorite, episode two somewhat disturbing. It’s an interesting season because it all happened during the pandemic, complete with delays and rising costs.
7. I’m doing a podcast tonight and am rather nervous. Details to follow. Wish me luck.
Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
