I won’t lie, I adore getting flowers and people kindly sent me some lovely ones. But it’s this tiny little vase with string lights that lives on with zinnias from my yard.
You know, honestly, the hospital food wasn’t terrible, they do the best they can. The difference in flavor and texture and TASTE with a classic Ernie egg sandwich (fried eggs, cheddar, mayo and arugula) is positively shocking, however, shocking.
There was a time when I would have worked hard to get my hair to look like this.
I’ve yet to write about this next happening. It is a bit of a dream come true for me. Ever since Bob Rasmus et al started Sola Gratia 12+ years ago I’ve had this idea in the back of my head that our beloved Jason Ringenberg would be the perfect person for a celebration. And now, on October 19, it is REALLY HAPPENING!
This celebration is in honor of our move to a new larger farm and brand new facility for pack/wash/distribution and office space! From Sola Gratia:
On Saturday, October 19 you’re invited to help us celebrate our expansion with a full itinerary! This is a day of celebration in three parts; a Kids' Concert with Farmer Jason, parade to follow, and an evening benefit concert featuring Jason Ringenberg at our new farm site. We want to welcome you all to our new farmland and into our newly built facilities for good music, good drinks, and good company. Here are the details for the day:
1PM - Kids’ Concert
2200 S Philo Rd. Urbana
This is a free children’s concert at our Community Classroom on our original acreage! Bring your kids, bring your friends, bring your neighbors! Come experience Farmer Jason, Jason Ringenberg’s character who performs music “to educate and entertain children about farm life and the wonders of nature” (farmerjason.com).
2PM - Parade
2200 S Philo Rd. to 1821 Mumford Drive, Urbana
Join us for a celebratory parade from our original acres to our expansion site, right after the Kids’ Concert! We’ll be driving implements over to our new facilities in a fun procession, to conclude at our new address, 1821 Mumford Drive in Urbana!
7PM - Benefit Concert & Open House (Main Event)
At our new farm - 1821 Mumford Drive, Urbana
This is it - a night of community & joy on our new acres. We’re excited to show you our new facilities, bring the warmth of the Sola Gratia community out to our new space, and spend a night with good music, together. Legendary Jason Ringenberg, of Jason and the Scorchers and a renowned solo artist, happens to be an Illinois farm boy himself and a purveyor of very good tunes. The “Godfather of Americana” is coming to Sola Gratia, and we are over the moon. This evening under the stars will feature live music, a farm-fresh grazing table, local drinks, and delightful company with friends. Tickets are $50 per person, and all funds raised by this event will benefit Sola Gratia and the work we do. Check out our Facebook Event for more details!

In other news I’m trying to find the balance between taking enough pain medication and not being a zombie. Those irritating little throat spasms can go away now, thank you very much.
Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
