I’ve been meaning to post but the days are just slipping away as easy as sipping eggnog. At least I always drink eggnog too fast, maybe other people don’t. Remember when it took eons for Christmas to arrive? No more I’m afraid. I also traded colds with somebody at the party (The Cold is dead. Long live the Cold) so I haven’t been feeling great for a few days. It seems as though everyone is battling a cold or much worse so I won’t complain.
Christmas will be quiet but I’m looking forward to it. Owen and Trinity will come by for a Christmas brunch in the morning, ham, cinnamon rolls, eggs, and fruit. Oh, and some potatoes in there too. Maybe even a mimosa. I keep telling the boys that I miss opening presents in the dark and then taking a nap as the sun came up and they dug into their Lego sets while Ernie tended the fire in the fireplace and turned over the Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown Christmas record to play the other side. They do not seem inclined to wake before dawn however, so this will work too.
We’ve been busy watching our daily Hallmark movies and lazing a bit although I did work last week…will start working intermittently now until the New Year. Ernie hasn’t been feeling great the last few weeks, although Fats and Kristie Rose and all the love in the house gave him a boost. Owen took him to his Cancer Center treatment last week. I dithered but I had that wretched cold and didn’t think I could handle the walking (next time I just have to give in and use a wheelchair if need be. I just hate to). I texted Owen the night before and asked if he’d be up for taking Ernie to the doctor and his infusion and he instantly replied (!) “yah sure no problem, I’d be happy to. so the appointment is at nine? so we should be there 8:30-8:45???” I just gave a sigh of relief and pleasure. We are so damn lucky with our sweet boys.
It was a long haul as Ernie got his quarterly Zoladex infusion, his Keytruda infusion and some extra fluids to see if that would help with his nausea and vomiting. We shall see. In the meantime I will try to increase my nagging for him to drink water and eat snacks.
In other news, I must thank all of you paid subscribers once again. As I started a bit over a year ago I’ve had quite a few renewals lately and that income is really appreciated more than I can say. A few unsubscribes as well. I won’t deny that some of those made me a bit sad but Lord knows there are a lot of way to spend your money and supporting my writing and wandering is waaaaaaayyyy down on the list, as well as the fact that my life morphed a bit this year as I dealt with all my health stuff so I wasn’t writing about what I had planned to write about. I hope to be able to write about a few more things this year! The little burst of welcome income is allowing for…wait for it….A WANDER. Yes! We are so excited. Hopefully we’ll both be up for it. We’re heading for the driftless area of Wisconsin, hoping to stay two nights. The last time we wandered we were in Tennessee and the forsythia were blooming so it’s been a long, long time. More to follow. Cross your fingers that….well….just cross your fingers. There are all sorts of things that could make this go south (so to speak) but I’m hoping it will happen! It is our Christmas gift to each other.
This post got interrupted yesterday by our broadband installer. GOODBYE COMCAST! Hello i3! We’ll save a good chunk of money each month!
Our beloved Doug Fink sent this video last night. What a delightful Christmas gift!
Happy Christmas to all that celebrate and love to all!
Onward! 🎄🎄🎄
Love,
Cynthia
