Man, I tried to write a post Saturday, and then again on Sunday, but I was just too damn exhausted to do it. I’d really hoped to do a mini wander….just a drive in the country…but it just felt like too much. This sepsis thing has totally taken the wind, and even any wind that was in the vicinity, out of my sails. Last night I googled “mild sepsis recovery” and the results actually made me feel better. I’m not crazy, I guess it’s normal to still be this profoundly weak and have every muscle aching. Everything also said the weaker you are going in, the harder it is coming out, which of course makes sense. Given that I was just getting over the wretched pneumonia, that didn’t help. I felt better reading this, I tend to doubt myself, so in an odd way it was comforting to read that it can take a few weeks.
I saw the urologist today and she was the same on I’d seen in the ER, which is great as I’d really liked her. Anyone need a urologist? Jessica Alumbaugh at Carle is highly recommended. Along with other things, she told me to rest. Lots of water and rest.
Thank you for all the good wishes. I must say, you have no idea how much every single message and comment meant to me. It’s times like this that social media can shine. Thank you all. So much.
Now some random notes:
Biscuit Day was lovely.
I’ve always liked the look of this place. I know some grumbled about messiness around it, but I had a soft spot for it. Nice old icebox gas station
I mean, come on, look at this little guy.
At least the business just relocated, not closed, but I doubt the building will last long.
Man, I love Swiss chard.
Swiss chard wilted with some cut up tomatoes. A few red pepper flakes and some parmesan. Remarkably good.
And he got more, and some lovely bok choy.
Matt Brandabur was in town for a friend’s mother’s memorial. He called to see if Owen could help with the sound. Another circle connected.
And then there’s Aaron Lee Tasjan.
I so wish we could have gone to Moccasin Creek to see him but there was no way. Moccasin Creek is such a great festival and they had a lot of wonderful artists, but all bias aside, it sounds like Aaron Lee and company had the set of the festival. Bill Poss (who runs Moccasin Creek) said, “Aaron Lee Tasjan and Brian Wright changed the texture of our existence at Moccasin Creek Festival last night. Great songs, great playing and great singing.” That’s my boy!
And then there’s the one that is actually my boy.
It’s funny, when Owen was growing up and we talked about bands we’d seen and folks we’d met, he was always, “oh MAN, that’s INCREDIBLE, all you did.” I used to laugh and say he made it sound like we were in Paris in the 20’s. He wrote me after the Aaron Lee show, saying, “they put on a great show we got to chat with aaron with the band for a looong time. chatted about a bunch of stuff. I got some good memories from that show now!”
I wrote back and said, “That’s Paris, baby, that’s Paris.
Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
keep up the good fight. I look forward to the pics of Biscuits all the time. Good to see a pic of Matt, in my mind he's still 16.
We were at the MCF too! We missed some shows because I got bronchitis. The day we rolled into Effingham the 1st stop was urgent care. Still enjoyed the performers we got to see & ShinyRibs was incredible too. Maybe next year my friend we can come back up & see you while in IL.
