Well, I lost a paying subscriber to too much writing about UTI’s and the like. For better or worse what I write here comes straight from my brain with a worrying lack of editing. I can’t seem to do it any differently however. So be it.
On a much brighter note however, I THINK I might feel a bit better. I think the antibiotic is kicking in and my bladder has gotten calmer. Another twelve hours of sleep probably didn’t hurt either. Apart from the fact that I gave Ernie a Sudafed instead of a probiotic this morning, I’m doing ok (ish). I’m trying to rest a bit this morning as I work this afternoon.
My test results are still waiting quietly for ‘review by my care team.’ Pffft. Always a bit unsettling to be disappointed by care but I know it’s truly minor in the scheme of things.
Last night we made that red lentil/rice dish that needs a catchier name (suggestions welcome). We tossed in an entire bunch of Swiss chard (roughly chopped up) in with it. I wasn’t sure how it would go as I figured that I should probably have blanched it first but it was a treat….simple, quick and tasty. Plus all pantry ingredients pretty much, apart from the chard.
Ok, it’s not the most photogenic of dishes, but comforting and surprisingly delicious. I used half coconut milk, half water for the liquid (would have used all coconut milk if I’d had it), Penzey’s sweet curry powder and red pepper flakes for the spices, and sweet potatoes and chard for the vegetables.
Will the windowsill by my bed every look different? Here’s hoping.
I went up to be early thinking I’d read. Heh.
And of course, leftovers for breakfast with an egg on top.
Onward. Hopefully to a much better week. Thanks for all the good thoughts, incantations and sweet messages. Despite the hard stuff we all deal with, I am indeed most fortunate.
Love,
Cynthia

You should have Tommy Womack do a guest column to go along with your UTI posts. Wonder how many subscribers you lose then (or GAIN). :-)
