I may grumble more than my fair share, but there is much to look forward to and so much to be thankful for in my life.
Our Leo is back home from England. It sounds as though it was a glorious trip. He sounds awful, his friends have decided he may be allergic to city air. They may have something there. Wandering around London with friends Leo actually ran into El Hornet (a member of Pendulum/DJ) in a record store.
After posting the picture he got a message back:
I can’t help it. It made me giddy. Heh.
There’s something about pictures of Leo when he’s with Tal. He just looks so happy and confident, grounded and glowing. I love it.
I continue to love Tal more all the time. She is so perfect for Leo. Slightly crazy and very strong…and she does things like befriend pigeons.
We’re playing hooky today. We rescheduled Ernie’s nephrology consult. It’s not too far out so I don’t feel tooooo guilty. It did make me realize that my corruption of Ernie may be complete however. Part of the reason we wanted to play hooky (side note: hooky may have come from the phrase “hooky-crooky” common in the early 19th century, which means dishonest or underhanded. Huh.) because we are celebrating the fact that I have a new job! I have accepted an administrative assistant position with Sola Gratia Farm. It kind of feels like coming home. We’ve been supporters of Sola Gratia since it first started. For those of you not familiar with it, Sola Gratia was founded in 2012 by St. Matthew Lutheran Church (and my brilliant friend, Bob Rasmus), it is a non-profit urban farm dedicated to producing locally-grown, high-quality natural produce, especially for those with limited food resources, and of building a regional food system where high-quality, locally grown produce is available to everyone. Take a look at their new annual report. It’s truly impressive what they have accomplished since the early days. I so look forward to working with them.
And who will be my favorite colleague? One Sophie Rasmus! Sorry to everyone else but some things just aren’t negotiable.

Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
Congrats and good luck with the new job!
How wonderful about your new position! Glad Leo is home safe and sound. 🥰
