I haven’t posted all week because I’ve been a tad worn out. It’s been a pretty good week however, I got out of the house a whopping THREE times. Tuesday I went to the office and worked a couple of hours, first time I’ve been there since mid-August! Seems like a lifetime ago in some ways. It felt wonderful to be there and to see folks. By the end of two hours however, my back said, “GO HOME CYNTHIA,” so I did. I had decided not to take a pain pill before I went because I didn’t want to be bloofy. I mistakenly thought I had brought the pills with me so I unfortunately couldn’t take one while I was there. I learned my lesson as I didn’t manage to get the pain under control until evening. I KNOW you need to stay ahead of it but I struggle with that a bit. The next day I went to a doctor’s appointment and got molds of my ears made for hearing aids. I’m so excited to that I will be able to hear! That evening we had Ann, Sophie, and her partner Grace over, along with Owen and Trinity, and of course Tal and Leo. We just ordered pizza and put it on the dining room table. I felt so happy looking around the room. Only Bob was missing.
I couldn’t help but think of these pictures.
Look at the three of them. God, I love them. I am indeed lucky, ok, not in everything, heh, but in some of the most important ways I truly am.
Yesterday I woke up exhausted and took a nap before I headed out to CSA pickup. Going out really takes it out of me. I get somewhat discouraged despite being told by physical therapists and the like that I am making good progress. But I must say, CSA pick up was easier on me than last week, which was easier than the previous week. So I will to keep that in mind and use it as a marker. Slow and steady says the turtle.
This morning when I woke up it seemed as though every muscle in my body ached. When I say that getting out of the house takes it out of me, I mean it. I’m grateful for a quiet day, a Zoom meeting, spot of work and then the afternoon off.
I hope to see some of you at next Saturday’s Shindig at Sola: Open House and Benefit Concert with Jason Ringenberg. I miss my friends. If you haven’t bought a ticket just click the tractor for more info and get a ticket. Oh, and don’t forget there is also a Farmer Jason kids show at 1:00. Info on that at the tractor link as well (sadly the parade had to be canceled because of area construction). The Farmer Jason show should be great—free bandanas for the kids, popcorn, and, well, Farmer Jason!
In flower news, the Heavenly Blue morning glories are indeed heavenly. They just fill me up. My other morning glories, the blue and white and pink and white stripes seem to have gone by, but my Heavenly Blues just keep reaching for that blue sky.
And my faithful zinnias.
Not much interesting cooking of late. Last night we did our standard we’re tired comfort food dish. Chicken thighs roasted with sweet potato and kale. The thighs were skinless, boneless so took less time, let the kale get crispy and had last fat. Pretty great, and with the smoked paprika on top it somehow made the kitchen smell like fall.
Here’s my beautiful Owen as a groomsman. All four of mine were at the wedding, Tal, Leo, Owen, and Trinity. Reportedly even Leo was seen on the dancefloor. Of, you KNOW Owen was….
I’ve got other pics to share but I don’t have the energy right now. I’m afraid I am fading.
Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
Beautiful flowers!
sorry we will not be at the Jason show. Mary bought Krannert tickets for Second City several weeks ago. Hope you have a great time.
