Ernie and I used to love watching country music award shows but that was back when there were people I like being nominated. Then for couple of decades…not so much. Our beloved Jelly Roll has brought us back into the fold however. I think he should have won single of the year BUT he did at least win for Musical Event with Lainey Wilson. Somehow I don’t know if the country music establishment is as enthusiastic about him as I am. And yes, in case you’re wondering, Ernie DID put his fist in the air and yell, “MY MAN, ROLL.”
Reba. Man, Reba. Never been a fan and I guess you could look at her hideous jokes as some kind of retro thing (anybody local remember the Oldtimer?) but geez. And one of her dresses looked like she had sequined kidneys. At first I thought ovaries but after a quick google I hade to hand it to kidneys. Sequined ovaries would have been pretty cool. And THEN, after the final award we couldn’t just sigh with the pleasure of completion, we had to listen to her do a song.
I found the stage backdrop profoundly confusing. I kept thinking either the stage was rising above people or else they were in a fish tank. Alas, I can’t find a picture that captures it.
Let’s see, what else. OH. Chris Stapleton and Dua Lipa. Wow. So good. AND in another strange twist, one of my favorite performances was Post Malone who sounded countrier than most everything else. Life’s a puzzle, but at least it is sometimes an entertaining one.
I’m hoping to have a mini wander to report on soon. I’m feeling better and itching to go somewhere other than work and the doctor’s office. God knows my current content is NOT exactly helping with Substack subscriptions (remember…you can subscribe for FREE!).
For now, this is what I’ve got.
Sweet potato, spinach and a bit of cheese quesadila for breakfast. Ernie is a master.
The tulips seem to be feeling all dramatic.
Perks of working on a farm.
Onward. I hope you all have a good weekend.
Love,
Cynthia
Glad the last antibiotic is making you feel better!
