Please forgive me. I am weak when it comes to snow. I was so excited on Friday that I woke up five times during the night to take bad pictures of the snow from my bed. I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit that, I mean, good Lord, no wonder I don’t sleep well. Gotta get on that.
But look. Isn’t that worth a bit of bleariness?
And then today!!! More of the same. I am just weak with pleasure. Snow pleasure. Wow, what a great phrase. Snow pleasure.
On top of that, it’s Biscuit Day.
Apart from the combined pleasures of snow and biscuits, this bit of a cold or whatever it is that I have, just won’t quit. I keep thinking that if my nose would just RELAX then maybe my head wouldn’t feel as though it is filled with concrete by the end of every day. Thus far my nose is ignoring my entreaties. C’MON nose. Say it with me: C’MON NOSE!
Ernie keeps me wonderfully entertained however so all is good. Owen and Trinity, knowing how cold he gets, gave him a big fleece lined hoodie kind of thing for Christmas. He LOVES it. It has a vaguely Scandinavian pattern on it. Lately every morning he now shows up as somebody new, first there was Sven, then Thor, Hans, Stig, and finally Bert. Or maybe Hans was first. All with their own accent or backstory. Evidently Bert runs the auto repair shop that employs Stig.
Could I love him more? Ernie, not Stig. I don’t think so but he keeps proving me wrong.
We were regaling Heather the other day with memories of Ernie’s building impressions that he used to do when we lived in Chicago. He did the Sears Tower, the Hancock, the State of Illinois building…I’ll have to try to recall the others. It was quite something. I think they were most effective when alcohol had been consumed but they were pretty damn good so who knows.
Ahhhhh.
In possibly unrelated news, the folks, at No Wristbands, We Drink for Free, have done a wonderful podcast with Ken Draznik and James Wald of my beloved Vertebrats. They are still Kenny and Jimmy to me however. It’s incredibly well done, even learned a few things about the guys. Do take a listen and check out their other episodes.
Listening to: BARK!
Coming up: alongside Sandwich Life Cooking will be ERNIE’S PICKS, a new feature that will find Ernie delving into his big box of 45s and beyond.
Onward.
As my Buddha says, “Life may be pain but it SNOWED!!!”
Love,
