A Concert and a Cookbook at the Sandwich Life
The potluck is coming and contributions to the cookbook needed!
I am pleased to announce a little project that dovetails quite nicely with the upcoming Eric Brace and Thomm Jutz house concert. That show, on Friday, April 5, 2024, is to celebrate the fact that Ernie was diagnosed with cancer 20 years ago in April and we’re still here going, if not strong, at least very determinedly. We started having house concerts when Ernie’s cancer had returned for the first time in 2008. We were scared and felt that we needed to celebrate our life right then and there. Enter Kane Welch Kaplin. This is at that show and is the song that reminds me of Zeppelin.
It was supposed to be a one off kind of thing. We hadn’t counted on how intoxicating it would be to have live music in our home, kids running in and out, friends old and new sharing food and drink and laughter. Soon we’d scheduled Fats and Kristi Rose, then Amy Rigby, Jason Ringenberg, Peter Case and David Olney. And we were off.
On Tuesday night while at Mary’s party, Jason Ringenberg pulled up a stool next to me and started talking about how great the food at our house concerts was. I couldn’t help but grin. I told him that it was always good but people REALLY brought it for his shows. It wasn’t just good food of course, it was the camaraderie and friendship it creates. To commemorate that, I have begun the process of putting together a Sandwich Life House Concerts Cookbook. The cookbook, which will be available to order, will contain some of the recipes I have made for our house concerts over the years as well as contributions by some of the folks that brought food to share at our potlucks before the show. There will also be pictures from the house concerts and quotes from artists and friends.
If you are interested in contributing a recipe, or a photo, or a memory, please click HERE to do so!
I’m busy figuring out what to make for Eric and Thomm’s show on April 5!! Suggestions?
Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
Love this. And truly enjoyed your essay on Mary. We've encountered each other online, and see seems to be first class.
