This image reflects what it felt like being on the antibiotic Levoquin, or levofloxacin, for eleven days. It’s a particularly strong drug and I felt like I had epaulets of pain over my upper arms and upper thighs the whole time. When I lay in bed at night sometimes I just wanted to cry. I took the last pill a few days ago and am starting to feel better. The weakness and fatigue will take a bit longer but I’ve gotten some relief. I’m grateful for the strength of the drug and what it has accomplished, but let’s face it, I’ve had more fun….
I tend to always visualize the way my body feels. I once told a doctor that my stomach looked like a glowing white circle. His expression made me realize I sometimes need to keep my mouth shut. This time is was an electrical sensation in my neck radiating through my arms and hands when I peed. Some doctors looked slightly irritated and ignored me, others just politely wrote it down. Eh. I can shrug too doctors, I can shrug too. I looked it up online and found a lot of other people experience it too. Shrug.
This image however is the side effects of the levofloxacin. Pain, brain fog, nausea, constipation, heartburn and utter exhaustion. I think the exhaustion is the only one not represented here. Otherwise I am quite pleased with it.
Anyone else have similar side effects?
More soon. I’ve missed writing.
Onward.
Love,
Cynthia
Hi Cynthia, is your email address still at illinois.edu? I'd prefer replying in more detail via that mode.
Condescending doctors? What?!? I have never heard of that. Stay as brave & strong as you can
